About Us
From its inception in 1902 under the name of The Enterprise, through several ownership changes leading to the renaming of the paper to its current title, The Saskatchewan Valley News in the early 1920’s, the paper has been continuously published on a weekly basis for more than a century.
Our offices are located in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, on Highway 11 midway between two major centres: Prince Albert to the north, and Saskatoon to the south. Our name stems from our geographic location between the South Saskatchewan River to the east and the North Saskatchewan River to the west, nestling us in the heart of the “Saskatchewan Valley”. Our news coverage area spans the many rural communities within an approximate 50 km radius of Rosthern.
The Saskatchewan Valley News is a member of the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association (SWNA) and the Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA). Each year we participate in the Better Newspaper Competitions both provincially and nationally within our circulation category. Check out some of our award-winning journalism!
