A brand new statue of the Virgin Mary can now be seen at the Our Lady of Lourdes St. Laurent Shrine roadside monument structure.
“We installed the Virgin on Sunday, January 8, after she arrived from Ontario,” said Lionel Sauve, construction foreman for the Our Lady of Lourdes St. Laurent Shrine group, which oversees the shrine site, located by the South Saskatchewan River.

Criminal activity in the area is relatively stable, says Cpl. Lyle Korczak, T/NCO i/c, of the Rosthern RCMP Detachment.
Commenting on the 2011 RCMP Year End Report that the detachment has just released, Cpl. Korczak pointed out that while the year to year figures show more activity in 2011 over 2010, the number does not reflect hard core Criminal Code violations.

With just 2:15 left in the third period and the University of Saskatchewan ahead of the University of Alberta Golden Bears 3-2 in Canada West hockey action last Friday, Martensville’s Brennan Bosch directed a pretty pass from Craig McCallum into the goal that gave the hometown Huskies a 4-2 lead. An empty net goal in the last minute made the final score 5-2.

The Rosthern Skating Club has been slowly building over the four years it has been in existence and this year has reached a milestone.
“This is the first year that we are an official member of Skate Canada,” said Tara-Lynn Crozier, club president.
